Wild Fig was established in 2011 by Justin and Nicola Maule. They provided a high quality catering service focusing on the very best in locally sourced ingredients where possible. Although Wild Fig continues to caterer for corporate launches, private dinner parties, canape functions, celebrations and location catering for the film, TV and media industries, it has since expanded.
Moving into new markets, Wild Fig now creates a growing range of produce, from an award winning ‘Seville Orange and Malt Whisky Marmalade’ using the truly unique Glengoyne cask strength single malt Scotch Whisky to a decadent and moreish accompaniment to your favourite dessert with its ‘Salt Caramel Sauce.’
Following the launch of the manufacturing arm of the business, Wild Fig needed support and decided to join Scotland Food & Drink for the range of support services available to members.
Nicola Maule, one of the founders of Wild Fig comments; “The support Wild Fig received has mainly come through our Business Development Manager, Caroline Wengel and through Stephanie Pritchard, Head of UK Market Development. Stephanie has been very helpful in sharing her knowledge of potential markets and helping us understand what we would need to know when talking with retail buyers.”
“We have regular meetings with Caroline and she has been very helpful at offering suggestions and facilitating introductions to contacts in order to help us take our business forward. She has introduced us to potential businesses we could collaborate with and continually keeps us up to date with what is happening in the industry, as well as the various member benefits we can access.”
“Caroline is always quick to respond and is very supportive of our business. Our regular meetings are a great help for a small business such as ours as is the weekly newsletter for keeping up to date.”
“Scotland Food & Drink’s support has been hugely beneficial in the early stages of starting our business, the Showcasing Scotland event at Gleneagles in particular has been the highlight of our membership to date. We would not have had the opportunity to meet so many potential buyers had Scotland Food & Drink not been there to facilitate this.”
“They are very supportive of Scottish food and drink producers and the team always seem passionate about what they do - instilling confidence - I feel - in its member producers.”
