Falkirk and the Forth Valley
West Moss-side is the home of a small herd of the traditional breed of cattle from Shetland Islands. They are conservation grazers on Flanders Moss NNR. Exceptional high quality beef for sale on line through Neighbourfood. Trossachs Yurts - luxury glamping amongst the orchard and woodland on the farm.
The farm is located on the Carse of Stirling and includes part of Flanders Moss National Nature Reserve - the largest raised bog in the British Isles. The cattle are organically reared and are feed on 99% home feed. In the summer they are conservation grazing on the rough ground and on Flanders Moss itself. This helps keep the moss healthy and the peat bog growing. It is a suckler herd with between 7 -13 breeding females, a bull and followers. The bullocks go to the butcher at 30 months so giving a slow growing breed time to mature. The beef is butchered by a specialist butcher who says he has never seen such high quality meat. The beef is fresh frozen for the very best flavour. It is sold from the farm and through the online Neighbourfood market in Stirling and Balfron. Trossachs Yurts are self catering glamping homes, each set in seclusion for maximum enjoyment of dark skies and wildlife. Each yurt has a wood burning stove with an oven for slow cook roasts as well as a barbecue for steaks, burgers and sausages.
