Lidl is stocking shelves full of Scottish favourites in preparation for Burns Night on 25 January, with producers across the country benefiting from a lucrative combined deal worth more than £650,000.

As Scotland gears up for celebrations of the Ploughman Poet - blending haggis, whisky and poetry with lots of fun and laughter – Lidl’s 96 Scottish stores are supplying a wealth of products from from 25 Scottish suppliers.

With prices starting at 69pence, customers can stock up on ingrediants to host a traditional Burns Supper, as well as items suitable for more informal celebrations such from haggis pizza, steak & haggis pie, haggis olives and XXL black pudding to cheese, chowder, and chutney.

Lidl’s Head of Regional Buying for Scotland, Paul McQuade said:

“At Lidl we are committed to supporting and championing local producers year-round and are incredibly proud of our expansive Scottish range. Burns Night is a a great opportunity to offer our customers even more premium Scottish products at great prices for a limited time only.”

Lidl is also preparing for a 30% year on year increase on haggis sales throughout all 720 UK stores during the holiday, with central Scotland based family business Brown’s Food Group supplying the iconic savoury pudding for the retailer. Customers can purchase a family sized portion for great value at £1.09 across all UK stores.

Maintaining their family run status since 1985; six members of the Godfrey family run and maintain the Brown’s enterprise, which now holds six manufacturing sites across Scotland.

Brown’s Food Group and Lidl have developed a strong partnerhsip over 10 years, and value of business between the two companies has increased tenfold; from Brown’s Food Group originally only supplying cooked meats, to now also stocking Lidl shelves with haggis, ready meals, sausage, black pudding and more.

Lee Godfrey, Managing Director of Brown Borthers, said:

“We have enjoyed a productive and fruitful relationship with Lidl for over a decade, and are delighted to be their champion haggis producer for celebrating the Bard’s birthday again this year. Our treasured  100 year old recipe is fairly unique, using purely pork meat for a more succulent texture and rich flavour, then adding Scottish oats and flavour enhancing spices, provides the perfect combination for the nation’s most symbolic dish”.

The Burns promotion is available across all Scottish stores now, and available while stocks last.
