AcceptHow we buy and consume meat has developed significantly over the past decades – the traditional butcher is disappearing from our high streets and more people than ever are declaring themselves ‘vegan’, ‘vegetarian’ or ‘pescetarian’. In fact, nearly half the British public are cutting back on meat or are already vegetarian, according to the British Social Attitudes survey. Pollsters found that 29% of people had reduced consumption of red meat in the past year, whilst another nine per cent were considering cutting back on meat, or stopping eating it altogether. About three per cent were either vegetarian or vegan.
